Fifteen years ago we caught the ferry over to Mandorah and rode our pushbikes into Wagait Beach. It felt like we had stepped back in time, this little town on the edge of the ocean, surrounded by archaic bushland, not a soul in sight.
We knew there and then that one day we would move to this seaside town on a peninsular far far away.
We have lived here now for 10 years and it seems that no matter where we go in the world we keep being drawn back to this special place. We moved here from Darwin to escape ‘the city’ and we love the sleepy, outdoor beach life that Wagait offers. Its so conveniently close to Darwin via ferry yet miles away from anywhere by road.
We didn’t exactly set out to set up a retreat but when this house came up for sale, something told us that we had to buy it and as people who follow our gut instincts for no other reason but trusting ourselves, we did just that.
Within 6 months we had gutted and remodelled the entire house, learning how to do things along the way and figuring out how it might all work. As our vision came together, we cultivated a dream from an idea that really came out of nowhere.
It’s the serendipitous nature of our life’s journey
where we just do what feels right and get on with it.
So here we are with this beautiful little house that we call Sanctuary By The Sea. A house of healing for us and for you, a house that feels like a home because it’s been created with love for the joy of creating.
